Asda Community Partnership

The ASDA Foundation aims to transform communities, improving lives now and in the future. As a charitable corporate foundation, they give independent grants and support locally relevant projects throughout the UK.

Whether it’s helping charities, local good causes or community activity, all can make a real difference to the local community. As our local retailer and shop of choice when preparing our weekend cricket teas ASDA were very keen to support a club activity that provided an opportunity for young boys & girls to learn and participate in this great sport whilst assisted and trained by qualified coaches and club members in a positive and safe environment. Therefore Waterlooville Cricket Club were delighted to receive the donation of £1,000 which when added to some additional club funds will enable us to provide all the under 9’s, 11’s & 13’s with coloured playing kit for the 2018 season and beyond. In the present day era of T20 cricket, white & pink balls, music, coloured kit and all the razzmatazz we see with the IPL & Big Bash on television it’s a huge bonus to provide our juniors and parents with such a tremendous gift. As we are all too aware cricket must continue to move forward in the competition of attracting juniors and this is another terrific way for us to continue that theme.

On behalf of the Club, the membership, supporters and parents we’d like to thank Jacqui and the ASDA Foundation for their donation and Surridge Sport, our excellent kit supplier, who are providing all the kit at a generously discounted rate. Junior cricket is the backbone of every club and as most of them are self-funded to receive additional financial support that can be immediately re-directed to enhance the playing experience of young children is a fabulous message to the local community. With our first and 3rd teams promoted last season we have a great feel good factor around the club and this is just the icing on the cake! We are looking forward to another enjoyable season both on and off the field plus all the junior parents are delighted to not be removing those dreaded grass stains form the knees of white trousers which is another unexpected bonus!!
